Sandra Weil - President of the Board
Sandra moved to Tel Aviv from Stockholm, Sweden in 1997 to study in the Multi-Disciplinary Arts Program at Tel Aviv University. For the past few years, she has been working as a curator and cultural producer. She has been a curator and co-curator for many art exhibitions at different art institutions, galleries and museums located in both Israel and Sweden. In addition, Sandra has introduced the contemporary cultural scene of Tel Aviv to a number of Swedish museums, theaters, music scenes, television shows, radio stations, and private groups. Sandra is currently one of Kuchinate’s board members, as well as a board member for the following NPOs: Batsheva Dance Company, Oleh! Records Israel’s Music Export, and MARCEL art projects.
Hila Arnon - Board Member
Hila is an architect and has been a volunteer with Kuchinate since 2019. Based in Tel Aviv, she strongly believes in supporting and protecting the rights of refugees in Israeli society. In addition to her service in Kuchinate, Hila is leading local African and American partners in establishing a non-for-profit boarding school for underprivileged children in the Republic of Namibia. Hila graduated from New Jersey School of Architecture, and is the proud mother of three.
Toni Shina - Board Member
Toni made Aliyah in 2018 with her Israeli husband, Alon and 3 children: Tai, Paz and Maya. A social entrepreneur who pioneered the backpacking industry in South Africa in 1990, and founded a hostel which became the first 5 star graded eco-friendly friendly and the first hostel to become Fair Trade accredited. Toni has also developed numerous projects such as: community tourism, the initiation of craft shops transparent 2 prices model, fundraising and co-building of a nursery school in the black township of Cross Roads, and has supported and mentored a reformed gangster to grow his football academy Greater Commission United into a sports Academy focused on sport and tutoring children in need in the coloured gang ridden township of Heideveld. Lynn Schler - Board Member
Lynn is a Professor in African History in the Department of Politics and Government, and the Director of the Tamar Golan Africa Centre at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. She has published books, edited volumes and articles relating to urbanization, labor history, decolonization and nationalism in Africa. At the Africa Centre, she directs a wide range of programs aimed at increasing awareness and knowledge about Africa-related issues in Israel. Through cultural events, international forums, activism, study tours and volunteer programs, the Centre helps to build strong relations based on mutual respect and cooperation between Israel and Africa. Lynn lives in Herzliya with her husband, Greg, and her three kids, Amos, Ellie and Mika, and Arlo the dog.
Dr. Shiri Tenenboim - Board Member
Dr. Tenenboim is an oncologist, social activist, and founder of the Social Clinic at the Sheba Medical Center which offers medical services for uninsured patients. Shiri conducted research on the first medical interpreter vocational training course and its outcomes. Currently, Dr. Tenenboim is the Deputy Director at Wolfson Medical Center.
